What Hawar stands for?
Hawar Association of Education is a voluntary organization that was founded in March 2009 to address the great influx of Kurdish immigrants from Kurdistan, also, to address the various needs of Kurdish community based in Newcastle and Tyne and Wear.
Hawar’s main aims and objectives are to support and promote the development and integration of the Kurdish community, Improve the quality of lives and encourage them to undergo a more positive and effective role within the wider community within Tyne and Wear and the surrounding area. The area of benefit is Tyne and Wear and the
surrounding area.
We provide a wide range of services and activities, including:
Cultural and educational activities
- Employment and vocational
- Training and development including: ( Adult Education, IT courses and Kurdish arts and music, for adult and for children)
- Sports for women and keep fit classes
- Children’s supplementary school
- Family gets together on a weekly basis
- Trips, picnics and outdoor activities
- Interpreting and translation
- Quarterly educational newsletter
- Parents meetings, workshops and family seminars
- Raising community awareness
